Strictly Come Dealmaking: One of Ten Drop Dead Dealmaking Moves
1. Do The Deal!
You can compare dealmaking to the tango. Its elegance is in being flexible within structured moves. But the first step is simply getting onto the dance floor. You have to get out there and start dancing / dealmaking. This means you have to answer these two questions positively:
- Do you have to do deals? - Can you do deals?
Do you have to do deals? Another way to ask the question is: is there any person or entity that does not have do deals? Banks? SARS? Wouldn't they rather negotiate terms than get nothing while you rot in jail? Death? We negotiate with death every time we take an anti-biotic or even just watch our weight and exercise. God?
