Karin Petersen joined the women-specific facilitating team of The Dealmaker Company in 2010. As a business woman with a wealth of corporate and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) experience, she is well equipped to empower delegates of The Dealdiva™ programme with the secrets of successful dealmaking.
Armed with a degree in Journalism and Communication studies, Karin initially entered the world of broadcasting and print media, where she worked for both the Rand Daily Mail and SABC radio, writing news as well as compiling and broadcasting feature programmes.
Despite her success in the media industry, she was enticed by the business world and joined Unilever's Marketing division. As a member of their Corporate Management Development Scheme, Karin worked on various international brands such as Mentadent P, Sunsilk and Pears. She was also involved with the launching of their ethnic hair and skin care brands.
Subsequent to her role at Unilever, Karin was employed by Robertson's Spices where she managed the Knorr portfolio. She later migrated to the world of advertising, where she gained broad business expertise whilst tending to prominent clients such as Lever Brothers, Bakers, Adcock Ingram and South African Airways.
Following her corporate employment, Karin consulted to a variety of clients as a communications and marketing strategist.
Karin owns an independent consultancy and has local and international companies within her portfolio. She is a partner in a company that operates at board level in organisations to extract workable business strategies and facilitate internal strategic alignment.
A published writer who continues to freelance for both print and on-line publications, Karin focuses on the travel industry.
The world is an endless source of fascination for Karin. She says that a day in which she does not learn something new is a day wasted. She loves learning as much as she hates pot plants.
